Better colors, faster results

Flambient Photography

We want to balance beautful images that capture the natural colors of the room as the eye would see it. With the help of a flash, we can significantly improve your interior photos.

Flash in interior photography can easily be associated with harsh shadows and windows that look like paintings on the walls. But photographing with just natural light can lead to sloppy images with lots of color casts and lost color on the walls.

The less attractive characteristics of the flash will not shine through in our images. There is a technique called Flambient Photography (flash + ambient/natural light) that is often used in architectural photography. It combines the advantages of both HDR and flash to create natural and color-accurate images. Compared to HDR photography, the Flambient technique gives better workable images for a nicer result. Thanks to the flash, we can bring out the authentic color of the walls, and the window views become clear without hazing effects. The images get more contrast, color richness, and details, which can bring out the home in a more beautiful way.

Balance with the right feel

Capture the room with flash and natural light

Ev0 - Natural light in every room

Flash - Improved images

Photographing with natural light gives images that feel natural and soft. This exposure will be the foundation of our work - if you could only rely on one image, this would be it. No lamps turned on, just the natural light in the room is required for this image.

Ev -2 - Capture the view outside

Let us turn on the lamps

A dark exposure captures the environment that is otherwise blown out in the natural light exposure.

If lit lamps are desired, we ask for an extra exposure where the lamps are turned on so that we can light them in the editing. This is so that we have better control over color casts and shadows that come from the glow of the lamps. Bathrooms or other rooms without windows can, of course, be photographed with the lights on in the basic exposure. Distant dark rooms in the image can be captured in an extra exposure (e.g., ev+4) so that we can paint in that room separately.

Using a flash helps to even out the light in the room and removes color casts. However, the flash can cause harsh shadows pointing towards the windows and create spots and flash reflections in mirrors or windows. This is usually caused by pointing a powerful flash forward towards the window frames to capture the environment outside the window. This can be advantageous as the window frames become brighter than the natural light exposure, making it easier to merge the exposures in editing.

As little shadows as possible

Another method is to remove the flash from the camera and aim it straight up at the ceiling. This way, you can control and hide the shadow effects of the flash. Hold the flash half a meter below the ceiling or bounce it off some white object in the room if the ceiling is not white. Well-exposed flash images with as few shadows as possible give a really nice result and streamline our work - simply a win-win!
